How can we help the Bengal tigers?
As humans our principle responsibility is to not hunt these wild animals. We also have the responsibility to protect and not destroy their environment. It is due to our selfish reasons that these animals are loosing their homes which is causing them to become extinct. While looking for this research I found no pictures of a tiger attacking humans or human properties. Most of the pictures included a dead tiger and a human. What does that say about us as humans?
How are they being protected?
The Wild Life Protection Society of
India is trying to find out exactly who is killing the tigers. The World
Wild Life Fund is securing major tiger landscapes and banning illegal
tiger trade.
Why is the Bengal Tiger endangered?
The Bengal tiger is endangered primarily
due to habitat loss. Their homes are being cut down. Humans have also
began to hunt them or poison them because the tigers eat their livestock.
International tiger trade also declined the tiger population.
Interesting Facts
- The tiger’s ancestor is the
sabre-tooth cat.
- Bengal tigers are good swimmers.
- 1% of Bengal tigers are DNA verified
hybrids, which means that one parent is a Bengal tiger while the other is
a Siberian tiger.
- They can consume up to 60 pounds of
food at one time.
- The Bengal tiger can live in both wet
and dry environment.
